Kybella® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment used to destroy fat cells under the chin to achieve an improved profile. This result is achieved through numerous injections underneath the chin and may require several treatments. Kybella® uses a synthetic deoxycholic acid as its active ingredient. This type of acid is a naturally occurring molecule found within bile acid, whose function in the body is to break down and absorb dietary fat. When Kybella® is injected into the area beneath the chin it begins to destroy the fat cells hindering them from being able to store fat.
As one of the many dental spa services offered at Smiles on Randolph, Kybella® is used to specifically target fat around the neck area, helping patients like you get rid of an unwanted double chin.
Depending on your desired results, multiple treatments may be required. During each treatment, you will be given multiple injections underneath your chin. The total time for each treatment is, on average, 15 minutes. It’s recommended to wait at least a month between sessions, and you can receive up to six treatments. You’ll typically notice visible results after 2-4 treatments, and results are permanent. Once you have reached your target profile you should no longer need Kybella® treatments.
