Sedation Dentistry at Smiles on Randolph

relaxed dentistry with us

If you experience fear or anxiety when going to the dentist, you are not alone. Far too many people let their fear of the dentist prevent them from getting the right dental care. Sedation dentistry allows our team to provide more complex dental services and deliver exceptional patient experiences for those who suffer from dental anxiety or fear. Our team provides oral medication sedation or nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas.

In addition to helping patients with dental anxiety and fear, sedation dentistry can also assist those who suffer from gag reflux, have difficulty sitting still, or patients who may need extensive dental treatment. No matter the need, our team is here to provide both oral and inhalation dental sedation in Crown Point for a safe and relaxing visit.

taking Anxiety out of Dentistry

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective way to provide inhalation sedation. Our highly trained and experienced team have helped hundreds of patients overcome their dental fears through what most people know it as - laughing gas. Before your dental procedure, we will place a mask over your nose delivering the sedation medication during your treatment. Once our team is finished, you will be provided with clear oxygen to reverse the effects of the nitrous oxide, allowing you to drive yourself home after your visit.

If inhalation sedation isn't for you, our office also provides oral sedation. Oral sedation is taken in pill form the night before and an hour before your appointment, with sedative effects lasting anywhere from 2-6 hours, allowing us to achieve necessary procedures while you are in a sleepy and relaxed state. Along with providing calming experiences, oral sedation also produces a minor state of amnesia for patients and many have little-to-no recollection of the actual appointment, though they are able to respond to commands during the procedure.

Our team will be able to determine your candidacy for sedation dentistry at your consultation, along with providing you with all the information you need to feel confident in your sedation choice and undergoing treatment with the team at Smiles on Randolph. To help increase your comfort, a member of our team will always be with you, and we also offer pillows, blankets, and music to help you relax.
